Sand Plain Setting

Sand Plain Setting
In our plans to integrate the house naturally into the landscape, rather than have it stand out as a dominant feature, we nestled it into the land, a little lower than the high point of the property. This balanced the house within the natural landforms and took advantage of its great pond surroundings. The property is also a sandplain restoration project, in which about sixteen acres were restored as a natural habitat for rare species of birds, insects, flowers, and other wildlife that are in danger of becoming extinct. Indigo Farm protected and nurtured many of the native shrubs before the clearing took place and used them in the new landscape.
